Mission Statement

 

Kevoy Community Development Institute (KCDI) is committed to the empowerment of Caribbean urban and rural  small farmers and their communities  via Agricultural and Community Development training programs. This can be attained via developing a global partnership for development which is one of Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

 

Kevoy Community Development Institute KCDI is a non-profit Farm Management and Community Development training institution which conduct resource mobilization, project planning and proposal writing ect. Located in the RADA Building, Belfast Morant Bay, St.Thomas and 32 Weeville Gordon Street, Kingston 4. Jamaica W. I.

KCDI works to enhance and improve the quality of life for both urban and rural communities by educating, training and empowering their people. Farm Management and Community Development Training Programmes are conducted both local and regionally.

KCDI was conceptualized with the view of strengthening the non-governmental organization (NGO) sector through training and the managing of social projects and programmes of respective (NGOs), Community Based Organizations (CBOs), Parish Development Committees (PDCs) Church groups and other associations.

It was registered under the Companies Act of Jamaica in 2007.

KCDI is governed by a multi-disciplinary Board of Directors, whose representatives span academia, the private sector and the NGO community. The Board provides policy oversight and guidance.

KCDI provides training to communities via scheduling of workshops and Capacity Building seminars for information sharing. Direct training is also provided to farming groups located in deep rural Jamaica. collaborations have been established with major stakeholders namely:

* The Jamaica Agricultural Society (JAS)

* Rural Agricultural Development Authority (RADA)

* Social Development Commission (SDC)

* People Action for Community Transformation (PACT)

* Newport Fersan (JAMAICA) Ltd.

Through its Community Development Unit there has been the establishment of the KCDI Vocational Training Centre. The centre offers community-based training along with remedial classes for the Greater Allman Town communities.

KCDI's regional presence is evident via its memberships and associations throughout the region. It is an active member of the Caribbean Farmers' Network (CaFan) which is the umbrella group for most of the region's farming organizations. CaFan has its headquarters in St. Vincent & the Grenadines.

Based on the support of regional stakeholders Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture, (IICA) St.Lucia, the St. Lucian Ministry of Agriculture, First Caribbean International Bank, and the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States, (OECS), KCDI has established an office in St Lucia as a means of assisting with Farm Management Training in the Eastern Caribbean.

KCDI is also a member of the Caribbean NGO Development Foundation which is a depository of NGOs in the region and is located in Trinidad.
